Turns out, a scrap of something supposedly disposable and throwaway can translate into pretty, modern, and covetable clothes. Take it from Tennessee native Julianna Bass, who lives part time in Berlin and expanded on that theme for her Fall 2016 collection, collaborating with the German artist Peer Kriesel. Kriesel typically illustrates on discarded paper scraps like metro tickets and film stubs—when blown up, his images form eye-catching scrawled blots of yellow, pink, and blue prints. In Bass’s hands, those took form in long, body-skimming sheath dresses and retro pussy-bow blouses.
